Amarinder Singh, who is the Punjab Chief Minister,  two days ago had met a group of students at the launch of scheme of smartphone. He took the students on a tour of his office at the secretariat. He stated that it was heartening to see the positivity and enthusiasm of students, they were all filled up with positive energy.

On Friday, in one of the tweet Singh said that “I had met a group on students on #Captain SmartConnect launch event, I was happy to take the young students, on a tour of my Secretariat office (on Wednesday) so that they have an idea of how administration functions” . Later, he also posted a short video of his interaction with the students.

In his office tour, Sunil Jakhar who is the congress president and senior state government officials accompanied Singh. After the launch of the Punjab Smart Connect Scheme, the students had requested the chief minister to show them a glimpse of his office.

In the video it can be seen that Singh is  giving the students an extensive tour of the secretariat, he is also showing the  room where meetings are held. The chief minister, who has also been in the Indian Army and has served them, guided one of the student who showed his keen interest to join the defense forces in future.

While pointing to his chair in the office, he said that “If anyone of the students is interested to join politics, then he/she can sit over there”.

On Wednesday, Singh had launched the ‘Punjab Smart Connect Scheme’ with the help of video conferencing  on the occasion of Janmashtami and International Youth Day. To the students of class 12, he handed over smartphones to six students. In the first phase, it is likely expected that the scheme will benefit a total of 1,74,015 Class 12 students of government schools, which shall be successfully completed by November.

During the 2017 assembly elections, the Congress had promised to give smartphones to youths of the state. This was one of the key poll promises of the Congress.
