RDW University to open centre for gender research

Rama Devi Women’s (RDW) University, Odisha is opening a multi-disciplinary centre for gender research in collaboration with the Delhi University. The centre will be named after the first freedom Fighter and MLA of Odisha, Sarala Devi Ji.

The Sarala Devi Gender Research Centre will administer research, study, analyze and discuss gender-related issues and women’s rights like the wage gap, sexual harassment, women’s health and more. Students from science, arts, commerce, and other professional courses can indulge in gender researches.

“We will start in the centre from Friday. Later we will make it a Centre of Excellence. Department of gender studies will be the coordinator of the centre initially, but we will include other departments for coordination and research works,” said Vice Chancellor Padmaja Mishra.

Rama Devi Women’s University has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with the Delhi Univerisity on Friday. The University is looking forward to collaborating with other universities and institutions for gender studies.

The Vice Chancellor last year has announced the start of this centre in the campus after getting approval from the State government.

Rama Devi Women’s College was founded in 1964 is a state university in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. It’s the first women’s university in the State.
