The Punjab and Haryana court ordered the schools to only collect 70% of the total tuition fees and also should accommodate the people to pay the admission fees in two installments.

The order passed by Justice Ritu Bahri states that keeping in view of the current situation some allowances are being created to facilitate the parents. Firstly the schools are set to charge only 70% of the fees. Secondly the admission fees can be paid in two installments which were previously paid in a single slot.

An order passed on May 15 sating that the salary of the teachers should not be reduced. Also schools conducting the online classes were only asked to charge the tuition fees. This was in response to the statements proposed together by independent Schools Association, Chandigarh, and managements of different schools situated in Mohali.

Advocate Aashish Chopra represented the schools that it is difficult for the management to not to charge fees from the people as well to give full salary to the teacher. The private schools have deposited their fund under the head ‘reserve fund’ and presently the amount is close to 77 crores. But the government hasn’t responded in that view even for sanitation purposes.

The court has inquired a detailed report on the use of reserve funds for sanitation purposes. The next hearing is scheduled for June 12.
