St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata has decided to launch ten more postgraduate courses at the Park Street campus in the period of next two years. Rev Fr (Dr)Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal, St Xavier’s College, Kolkata informed about the same in a press release.
“As part of our expansion programme, our college will begin MA courses in the following subjects from the academic year 2019 — MA in English, Political Sc and Bengali at Raghabpur campus and MEd, if possible. In 2020 and 2021, MAs in Sociology and History and MSc in Chemistry, Statistics/ Data Science and Economics will be started. For all PG courses available… there are plans to start Ph.D. programmes after two years.”

the college plans to begin PG courses for many subjects like MA in Sociology and History, MSc in Chemistry, Statistics/ Data Science and Economics. If the Institute launches the PG curriculum successfully, the Kolkata college will also start Ph.D. courses after two years.
The 12th convocation ceremony of the Institute will be held on 16th January 2019. Suranjan Das, vice-chancellor of Jadavpur University will arrive at the event as the chief guest. He will be awarded the Nihil Ultra Award by the Institute for his contributions in the higher education department of West Bengal.
