Students should be encouraged to be job creators rather than job seekers: President

Investments and Startups can help India become a $5 Trillion Economy says Narendra Modi, who has envisioned India becoming such an economy by 2022. He is a firm believer in Indian startups building India of tomorrow with an increase in per capita income, resulting in more employability. That thinking is mirrored by our President as well.

The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday during 5th Visitor’s Awards’ at Rashtrapati Bhawan said, the students must be inspired to rise as the job creators. The students must take the opportunity to create jobs for others other than waiting around for employers. This will ensure the health, well being of oneself and the country along with eradicating poverty.

President Kovind said, “Students must be encouraged to emerge as job-creators rather than job-seekers. In this context, I am delighted that the UGC and Ministry of Human Resources Development have come out with a handbook for Vice-Chancellors on governance issues in higher education.”

He encouraged the universities to bring out quality education of global standards. They should strive to become the best in the country with healthy competition and space to help each other grow.

He said the universities should play a pivotal role in addressing the challenges of the nation and supported that the higher education institutions must nurture the free expression of ideas.
