SWAYAM or Study Web of Active – Learning of Young Aspiring Minds is a programme initiated by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of the Education Policy viz., access, equity and quality.

It is an instrument for self-actualisation providing opportunities for a life-long learning. SWAYAM seeks to bridge the digital divide for students who have hitherto remained untouched by the digital revolution and have not been able to join the mainstream of the knowledge economy.

With SWAYAM, the MHRD has also developed SWAYAM PRABHA which  is conceived as a group of 32 DTH channels devoted to telecasting of high-quality educational programmes on 24X7 basis using the GSAT-15 satellite. This is in contrast to SWAYAM which is an internet based platform.

Channel 1- CEC/UGC: Humanities- 1, Language and Literature

The channel currently runs a variety of 48 topics ranging from Functional English – 1, First Day At College and Functional English – 2, In The Canteen to Telephone Conversation – Wole Soyinka and The Solitary Reaper – William Wordsworth. The course mainly targets on college students. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 2- Humanities- 2, Arts, History,Philosophy and related Subjects

With focus on Art, Philosophy and History, the channel currently run 57 topics from Influence of Geography on India’s History to The Human Eye: Structure and Refractive Errors. The channel’s focus is on BA courses. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 3- CEC/UGC: Social Science -1, Sociology, Political Science and related subjects

Covering Social sciences, the channel serves BA and BSc courses in the UG category. The channel is currently covering chapters like Humerus, Radius and Ulna and Man’s Place in the Animal Kingdom. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 4- CEC/UGC: Social Science – 2, Education, Psychology, Home Science and related subjects

Teaching more education-based topics, the channel’s prime focus is on BA, BPED and BSc courses. Some of the currently taught topics are Importance of Rest, Sleep and Exercise, Introduction to Work Physiology and Rehabilitation: Meanings, Aims and Objectives. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 5- CEC/UGC: Social Science – 3, Management, Library Science, Information Science and related subjects

Coming down to management and tech-related topics, the channel currently run 52 topics right from The Electoral System in India, Process, Stresses &
Strains to OPEC & OIC. The course is focusing on multiple topics from Mass Media to Politics in the UG category. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 6- CEC/UGC: Social Science – 4, Law, Legal Studies, Human Rights and related subjects

This channel is currently running 84 topics ranging all the way from Human Rights and UN to Evolution of International Humanitarian Lawmanitarian Law. The channel focuses primarily on Forensic Science and Human Rights UG courses. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 7- CEC/UGC: Economics, Commerce and Finance

Focus of this channel is on the Commerce stream at the undergraduate level. There are 78 entries running on the channel at present. Topics buzz from Introduction to Business to The revealed preference theory. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 8- CEC/UGC: Physical sciences, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and related Subjects

Telecasting the Science and Mathematics related topics, the show currently run 75 entries covering chapters from Rings of Endomorphisms and Quaternions to Building Sites Requirement. The channel has multiple courses under its umberella inculding natural environment, Mathematical modelling and Organic Chemistry. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 9- CEC/UGC: Life Sciences, Botany, Zoology, Bio-Science and related subjects

The channel focuses on topics mostly related to BSc courses. Of the currently running 48 topics, some are, Enzyme 3 Enzyme kinetics, regulation and Catalysis , Heredity in Prokaryotes and Moulds in Food Production. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 10- CEC/UGC: Applied Sciences, Allied Physical and Chemical sciences and related subjects

For courses similar to DBMS, Computer hardware & networking administration etc, the channel has much reference to provide. The topics such as Structured Query Language-II and Context Free Languages, the channel telecasts 50 topics presently. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 11- NPTEL: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry and related Subjects

This channel telecasts 16 entries currently. The entries are in regard to Fluid Mechanics, Coordination Chemistry and subjects alike. Topics here range from Metathesis reactions to Dehydrogenative (oxidative) cross-coupling. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 12- NPTEL: Civil Engineering and related subjects

With running 24 entries currently, the focus of the channel revolves mainly around subjects like Engineering Geology and Strength of Materials. Few topics from the channel’s current telecast are  Design of Laterally Supported Beams, Soil Mechanics and Groundwater Related Engineering Issues. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 13- NPTEL: Computer Science and Engineering

Corcerning mostly ICT, the channel talks on subjects like Principles of
compiler Design, Low Power VLSI Circuits and Systems, Computer architecture and alike. Topics range from SVM : Maximum Margin with Noise to Convex Sets. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 14- NPTEL: Electrical engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and related subjects

Covering topics such as ECL Basic Operation, Dynamic Equivalents for Large Scale Systems -Part-1 and Transconductance Operational Amplifier, the channel currently telecasts 24 entries.  Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 15- NPTEL: Engineering Sciences and general subjects for engineering

The channel telecasts on subjects like Management Information System, Management Science and Numerical Methods and Computation with 30 entries currently running. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 16- Humanities, Social Sciences and Management

Returning to Humanities, subjects like Basic Psychological Process and Money and Banking are covered on this channel. Topics range widely from From Parmenides to the atomists to Sensation & Perception, Weber’s Law, Perceptual cycle, Signal detection theory, From perception, Gestalt principles over the 24 entries currently running over the show. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 17- NPTEL: Mechanical Engineering and related subjects

Right from topics such as Gyroscopic Action in Machines to Canonical Forms, Symmetric Matrices, around 24 topics on Mechanical related subjects are covered on this channel. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 18- NPTEL: Mathematics, Physics, Metallurgy and related subjects

Mathematics, Physics and Metallurgy mainly dominating the 35 topics currently running on the channel, entries covered are as Phase Rule-II and Single Component Equilibria, Quasistatic approximation etc. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 19- IIT PAL: Biology

The entries covered here are Intro: Know Your Biology Teacher, Genetics and Evolution: Molecular Basis of Inheritance – 2 etc. This channel, unlike all above, focuses on Secondary/High Secondary levels. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 20- IIT PAL: Chemistry

This channel focuses on Secondary/High Secondary level Mathematics. The entries range from Complex Numbers to Algorithm. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 23- IGNOU: Liberal Arts and Humanities

This channel shows content on various topics such as Ethnicity and Ethnicity identity and Library and Information Networking. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 24- IGNOU: Agriculture, Vocational and Allied Sciences

The channel telecasts over subjects such as Food Laws and Standards, Principles of Post Harvest Management and alike. With 52 topics being broadcasted currently, the range of coverage is wide enough to cover Implementation of Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, Introduction to Anatomy of Physiology PT-1 etc. The coverage is multidisciplinary, that is, it concerns propose of undergraduates, postgraduates and diplomas. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 25- IGNOU: Culture

Covering topics as vast as Objectivity in History, Poverty, Inequality and Culture and Marital and Family Therapy & Potential of Counselling and Family Therapy in tackling mental health disorder, the channel is currently broadcasting 69 entries. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 26- State Open Universities’ programs

Following the research content, this channel provides content  on Determining Independent & Dependent variables, Introduction to Human Body System & Pancreas and its Functions & Metabolism etc. There are 48 topics in all that are covered currently. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 27- NIOS: Secondary School Education

Safety in Home, Channels of Distribution, Financial Statements with Adjustments and topics alike are covered through the channel in its present coverage of 48 entries. The content is that of Secondary/High Secondary level. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 28- NIOS: Higher Secondary School Education

Topics that the channel currently covers are Biological and cultural of shaping mind and behavior part-3, Business Support Services part-1, etc. Total range is 48 entries. The content is that of Secondary/High Secondary level. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 29- QEEE: QEEE 1 (Live classes in Engineering and Technology)

Content coverage on this channel ranges from subjects like Site Investigation and Highway engineering to Differential amplifier. Total topics covered are 18. The content carries undergraduate level. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 30- NPTEL: Mathematics

The content covered by the channel is of the post-graduate level. The range is rich by covering 24 topics from Discriminant Analysis and Classification to Min-cost flow changes in arc capacities , Max-flow problem, assignment 7. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 31- School and Teacher Education

Nutrition – Classification of  Foods and  Proximate Principles and Role of Various Nutrients, Rehabilitation: Meanings, Aims and Objectives and 51 other related topics to the fields of BPED, BEd and B.EL.ED are covered by the channel. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.

Channel 32- IGNOU and NIOS: Teacher Education

Wardha Scheme of Education, Universalisation of Elementary Education and 39 other topics related to teacher education are being covered by the channel currently. Every week, new chapters replace the old ones.
