Physiotherapy is one of the Allied Health Professions where a patient is treated by using manual therapy and mechanical forces rather than using drugs. The main objective of Physiotherapy is to serve those persons who are suffering from locomotor disabilities.

Physiotherapists have specialization in fabrication and fitment of rehabilitation aids and appliances to the disabled persons suffering from polio, paralysis, amputation, paraplegia, quadriplegia, and other physical deformities.

They treat and rehabilitate neurological and orthopedic disorders. The different treatment modalities that are used in physiotherapy are Heat therapy, Hydrotherapy, Shortwave, Ultrasonic Electrical, Stimulator, Electric massages, Parrafinwax, Infra-red rays, Ultra Violet units, Laser Therapy, Traction, etc.

Physiotherapists are experts in handling with the cases of:

1 Apollo Physiotherapy College, Hyderabad

Apollo College of Physiotherapy was established in 1999 and is affiliated to Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences. Apollo College of Physiotherapy offers two courses across one stream namely Paramedical offering 2 degrees namely Bachelors in Physiotherapy and Masters in Physiotherapy.

The Hostel facility is not available for the students. The duration of the course is 4 and a half years.

Candidates must apply for admission by filling and submitting the completed online application. All fields in the application form should be correctly and completely filled-in with the relevant information.

Candidates will be selected for the respective programmes on the basis of their merit i.e. marks scored in the qualifying degree for counseling.

2 National Institute of Health Education and Research

National Institute of Health Education and Research is situated in Patna in the Bihar state of India. It was established in 1995, it is accredited from INC and is affiliated to Magadh University. NIHER Patna offers 20 courses across 6 streams namely Nursing, Medical, Pharmacy, Dental, Vocational, and across 8 degrees like Bsc, BMLT, B.O.T, BPT, ANM.

Hostel facility is not available for students. Additional campus facilities such as Computer Lab, Cultural zone, Gym, Library, Cls. Room, Sports, Grounds, Trans., WiFi are also there.

National Institute of Health Education and Research provides placement assistance to all its students. The dedicated placement cell regularly conducts grooming sessions of the students in areas like soft skills, interview facing skills, behavioral skills hereby making them industry-fit. In recent years, the college has witnessed some well-known recruitment companies walking-in and being invited for campus placements.

3. Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research

Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research is situated in Chandigarh in the Chandigarh state of India. Established in 1962, Hostel facility is available for its students. Additional campus facilities such as Canteen, Computer Lab, Hospital, Library, Cls. Room, Sports, Swimming Pool, Hostel are also there.

Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for  Persons With Physical Disabilities is an autonomous organization under the administrative and financial control of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. The Institue is affiliated with the University of Delhi. The Institute for the Physically Handicapped came into being when the erstwhile Jawahar Lal Nehru Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and other allied institution run by the council for the Aid of crippled & handicapped were taken over by the Government of India on 22nd May 1975 and converted into an autonomous body in the year 1976. It was renamed after Pandit. Deendayal Upadhyaya in the year 2002.
