According to a recent survey from McKinsey, nearly one-third of U.S. workers will need to find new jobs by 2030 in response to rapid advancements in technology. These advancements mean that workers need to constantly be learning new skills. “From artificial intelligence, automation, virtual reality, cryptocurrency and more, demand for jobs in engineering, product, data science, marketing and sales will continue to rise in order to support the innovation happening across the country.”

Now more and more traditional companies are beginning to resemble tech companies, and this trend will likely continue throughout the coming year, Stoddard said. “As employers across diverse industries, from health care to finance to automotive and more, continue to implement various technologies to streamline workflows and boost business, the demand for top-notch workers who have a balance of technical and soft skills will continue to rise.

One of the most important characteristics of a tech star is the ability to adapt to new technologies. The IT workers of the 21st century need to be constantly learning, out of necessity if not desire.

Here are the hard skills companies need the most in 2019. In this article, we’ll look at the various areas of tech ‘Top Tech Skills In Demand In 2019, how much demand exists for each skill.

Top Tech Skills In Demand In 2019:

1. Artificial Intelligence:

Artificial intelligence (AI) is an area of computer science that emphasizes the creation of intelligent machines that work and react like humans.

We all have heard, it is official — The Age of Artificial Intelligence(AI) is here. AI is all set to transform the business landscape. It effects on how we live, work and play are still only in the early stages.

Atificial Intelligence

AI is one part of what we would refer broadly as automation, and automation is a hot topic because of potential job loss. Experts say automation will eliminate 73 million more jobs by 2030. However, automation is also creating jobs as well as eliminating them, especially in the field of AI. Pundits predict that jobs in AI will increase to 23 million by 2020. Jobs will be created mainly in development, programming, testing, support and maintenance, to name a few. Artificial Intelligence architect is one such job. Some say it will soon rival data scientist in need for skilled professionals.

2. Data Science:

Data science is the field of study that mainly combines domain expertise, programming skills, and knowledge of math and statistics to extract meaningful insights from data. Data science practitioners apply machine learning algorithms to numbers, text, images, video, audio, and more to produce artificial intelligence (AI) systems that perform tasks which ordinarily require human intelligence. In turn, these systems generate insights that analysts and business users translate into tangible business value.

Analytics and data management are rapidly growing skill much needed now as organizations are striving to be more data-driven. This culture of information allows for better insight into patterns and trends. Thus, critical business decisions are made with data as the driving force. IT professionals with these skills are tasked with helping organizations solve problems and make more informed evaluations and are know as Data Scientists.

3. Mobile Application Development:

In 2019, it’s estimated that there will be over 5 billion smartphone users in the world. With the smartphone sales explosion in recent years and smartphones becoming cheap and more affordable, the number of persons on the Internet has been increased exponentially. The increase in volume has resulted in making the mobile app industry very big.

Mobile App Development

Apps are no longer limited to single platforms. Android, due to its pricing, will rule the platform business in terms of sales, and iOS will rule the high-end market. In time, applications will no longer be confined to specific platforms. With the evolution of HTML5, the future of mobile application will see hybrid mobile applications and will work for all platforms. As a result, mobile app development is likely to be one of the most in-demand tech skills for 2019 and beyond.

4. Cloud Computing:

Wikipedia defines Cloud Computing as, Cloud computing is the on-demand availability of computer system resources, especially data storage and computing power, without direct active management by the user. The term is generally used to describe data centers available to many users over the Internet. Large clouds, predominant today, often have functions distributed over multiple locations from central servers. If the connection to the user is relatively close, it may be designated an edge server.”
