The Tripura Cabinet has approved the proposal to introduce the NCERT curriculum in all state-government and aided schools from the next academic session.

The Department of Education has initiated the process to introduce the NCERT curriculum to replace the existing one prescribed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath told reporters after the Cabinet meeting on Thursday.

Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath told reporters that the change would enable the students of the state to be as “competitive” as students of the other states. He added that the change in curriculum will also take the education system to a national level.

He said that the government has decided to bring in the changes in accordance with the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

“If the board is not put in place, the MHRD may curtail the outlay under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA),” he added.

The Department has already procured over 2 lakh new books, and 64000 more books of National Council of Educational Research and Training to reach soon.

the expert committee by the BJP Government has recommended the NCERT Curriculum for the state. Along with that the government also proposed to introduce CBSE Syllabus across all government and government-aided schools in the state.

The state cabinet has also asked the education department to stress over the changes needed in the school timings. Currently, all government and government-aided schools have two shifts, one in the morning and one in the evening.
