On Monday, the revised academic calendar was approved by UGC where all the varsities have been directed by the University Grants Commission, UGC that from November 1 onwards the classes for the new sessions shall start. For undergraduate and postgraduate courses the first-year classes  can begin in the month of November. By November 30,  all the varsities have been directed to wrap up the schedule of the admission.

On April 29, UGC had released the alternative academic calendar which suggested that on September 1 classes of first-year students should begin  and from July 1 to July 15 final year exams shall be held . However, due to the increasing number of cases, the calendar had to be revised.

Now, as per the revised guidelines, for first-year students from November 1 the academic session 2020-21 may begin  . In situations where there is a delay in the declaration of results in the qualifying exam, by November 18 the universities can plan and start the academic session.  While talking to the reporters, the Vice-President of UGC stated that there is no hard and fast rule on conducting online or offline classes.

Adding on to more information the commission stated that in the revised calendar up to November 30,  a full refund will be made on account of the cancellation of admissions/ migration of students . Thereafter, up to December 31, 2020 on cancellation or withdrawal of admissions , the entire fee collected from a student needs to be refunded in full after deduction of not more than Rs 1000 as processing fee.

Meanwhile, for undergraduate and postgraduate courses UGC has directed the varsities to start the process of admission.
