University Grants Commission has issued a public notice against the fake or unrecognized universities, for which the list of 24 universities had already been released.

Responding to that the Ministry of Human Resource Development has instructed state governments to take action against fake universities, said Dr. Satya Pal Singh on Thursday.

“No fake Universities have been identified in the State of Rajasthan. Raja Arabic University, Nagpur has been identified as fake University in the state of Maharashtra,” he added.

The UGC has also released public notice against the unrecognized Indian Institute of Planning and Management, New Delhi and Bio-Chemic Education Grant Commission, Nadia, West Bengal.

The warning notices were issued to various unrecognized institutes which included Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad, Lucknow, UP; Raja Arabic University, Nagpur, Maharashtra; Indian Institute of Alternative Medicines and Natural Healing, Andheri; National Institute of Event Management, Andheri; Indian Board of Health Education and Research, Pune.

On 13th November 2018, UGC had sent letters to Chief Secretaries, Education Secretaries and Principal Secretaries of the respective states governments for taking action against the fake universities functioning in their states.
