Under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF), the UGC has accommodated for financial assistance up to Rs. 1.85 crore for the initial 3 years. This will be applicable to colleges selected for BVoc programmes under the NSQF scheme.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked for proposals from colleges regarding their vocational courses and community college programmes. A senior official added:

“The UGC has invited proposals from those institutions which have been running Bachelor of Vocational Courses (BVoc) and community college programmes in order to consider an extension of courses being run under the said programmes. Without due approval from the UGC for extension of their skill-based courses, the institutions will not be able to claim any grant for running those courses.”

The last date for submitting the proposals to the commission is September 6, 2018.
