The government of Uttar Pradesh has announced to conduct exams for all students of engineering and polytechnic courses. The Technical education department has also issued orders for the same to all private and government-aided technical and polytechnic institutes in the state.

According to the released orders, the exams for final year students will be held in the third week of July. While the exams for first, second and third year students will be held in the fourth week of same month. All the exams will be objective-based and will be held via online mode.

Alok Kumar, the secretary of state technical education department informed about the decision of conducting exams via his official twitter handle. He mentioned that the issued directives will be common and applicable for all the universities of technical education across the state.

The state government will issue a detailed framework on June 14. All the universities will then formulate brief guidelines for exams using this framework. Mr. Kumar said that exams for Pharmacy courses will also be conducted as they are also a part of professional education.

For uninterrupted conduct of exams by Online mode, A software is being developed by the Department which will be easily supported on all digital devices like Smartphones, tablets, laptops and personal computers with minimum requirements and connectivity. Thus, students will be able to take exams even on low-end devices.

Such facilities are being developed so that students can appear in exams from their homes. This will ensure that students do not need to travel to any examination centres or other places and avoid the risk of COVID-19 infection to themselves and their families during the pandemic.

However, several students of engineering and polytechnic courses has expressed disappointment towards the decision. Objections are being raised that when all the exams of conventional degree courses for UG and PG students are cancelled, then why their exams are being held compulsorily.
