The Union Public Service Commission has reserved 10% reservation for the Economically Backward Section students in the civil exams to be conducted this year. The Commission has also instructed the EWS category students to obtain EWS certificate for availing the reservation by August 1, 2019.

The reservation quota of 10% will only be provided to those EWS category students who present the certificate.

The Application process for the UPSC Preliminary examination 2019 will begin from February 19, 2019, and will continue to last till  March 18, 2019. The Examination is conducted for recruiting 896 vacancies. The Preliminary exam is scheduled to conduct on  June 2, 2019.

“They should also be in possession of all the requisite certificates in the prescribed format in support of their claim as stipulated in the Rules/Notice for such benefits, and these certificates should be dated earlier than the due date (closing date) of the application of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2019,” the official notification reads.

“Since reservation for EWS category candidates has been notified recently, therefore this extension for submission of certificate for EWS category candidates is a one-time relaxation applicable for CSE 2019 only,” it reads further.

The 10% Quota is provided to the Economically Backward Section Students under the General category. The quota will be provided if the family earns less than Rs 8 lakhs per annum, and should not own agricultural land with a size of 5 acres, also should not own a residential flat of area 1000 sq.feet or more.
