Addressing the live inauguration of the Rural Campus of the Utkar University, namely Baba Bhairabananda College, located in Chandikhole, Jaipur, through video conferencing, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced the introduction of bachelor and masters degree in education, and a postgraduate diploma in communication, along with three certification courses to be offered by the university.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University Soumendra Mohan Patnaik informed that this institute will first introduce a Master’s degree in Public Health, and MBA in rural management, and further with upcoming years introduce the remaining courses step-by-step.

“We are planning to offer a bachelor in education (BEd) and master degree in education (MEd), PG diploma in communication for development and some certificate courses from next year,” said the vice chancellor.

“We will also provide a certificate course on farmers training and women empowerment to make rural people skilled,” he added.

“This rural campus will be a shining star for the Utkal University. We will make all efforts for the development of the rural campus. The vocational courses on rural development and other subjects will help students get employment in different sectors,” he added.

He said the higher education has long been accepted as an important part for one’s prospect. “Students from many times find it difficult to access university education in big cities. This rural campus of the Utkal University will fulfill the aspirations of many rural students to get higher studies,” said Naveen.

The Higher Education Minister Anant Das earlier inaugurated the second campus on July 31, 2017, for which the construction of permanent campus is in process. Also, it has been reported in order to provide funding to the newly inaugurated rural campus, the state government sanctioned ₹25 crore.
