The Secondary Examination called Madhyamik Examination conducted by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) will commence from February 12, will continue till February 22.

This year, it has been observed that the number of girls appearing for the examination outnumbered the number of boys appearing for the same. WBBSE president Kalyanmoy Ganguly informed that the percentage of girls appearing for the examination was 56.65%, whereas the boys percentage was observed to be 43.35%. He also informed that a total of  10,66,000 students would appear in the examination out of which 10,64,980 are regular students.

He added that the seal attached with the question paper will be opened at 11:45 am, 15 minutes before the start of the examination, and the number of question papers will be exact, leaving no question paper with the invigilator preventing malpractices.

The Board conducting the exam will be posted regularly regarding the situation at the examination center through a computerized electronic system.

He also added that none of the invigilators would be allowed to carry mobile phones into the examination hall. The center officer in charge, center secretary, venue supervisor, the venue in charge and additional venue supervisor will only be permitted to use mobiles, he said.
