In the view of rapid increase in COVID-19 cases and 14 Days lockdown imposed in the State, The Government of West Bengal has announced to postpone the Class 10 and 12 board exams. The New scheduled will be decided and released later when conditions seems to be normal.

Earlier, The West Bengal Madhyamik exam for class 10 were supposed to begin from June 1 and West bengal Uchha Madhyamik exam for Class 12 from June 15, 2021.

Due to the worsening situations around the corona virus pandemic, the government imposed strict state wide lockdown till 30th May. During the lockdown period, it will be a challenge for the students as well as the Exam board to successfully conduct exams and thus the decision is made to postpone exams.

According to the chief secretary of West Bengal, Alapan Bandyopadhyay, the secondary and higher secondary Board exams stands postponed for the month only. The state education department has reasonably sufficient time in hand to prepare a new schedule.

The state government will issue the revised time table for atleast 20 days prior to the commencement of exams so that students can analyse their respective situations. If a Large number of students faces difficulty in appearing for exams even on new dates, the board will consider some alternative solutions for them as well.

Also, the new schedule will pe prepared after brief consultation with respective authorities and stakeholders.

According to reports, the state government has no plans to cancel the Board exams for Class 10 and 12 and will surely conduct them even if a shorter window is available. The students are advised to keep preparing and wait for the announcement of new dates.
