The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently released the detailed process for raising disputes against the Class 10 and Class 12 Board Exam results 2021 which were declared a few weeks ago.

The dispute-raising and redressal system is being introduced by the Board exclusively for the academic year 2020-21 as no exams were held for Class 10, 12 and the results were tabulated using an alternate assessment policy.

CBSE evaluated the students based on their performance in previous years, Mid-term exams, and internal assessment. Thus, such a system was required where students can raise objections against this evaluation criteria if they find any.

For the ease of students, CBSE Board has categorized the disputes into four different types according to the demand. These four categories will have their own modalities to address the type of dispute.

As per the official notification released by CBSE, Here are the four types of disputes which can be raised against the results;

TYPE-1 and TYPE-2 Disputes

Disputes regarding computation of results

These dispute types are for those students who are not satisfied with the computation of their marks based on the 40:30:30 formula of CBSE or claim that this formula was not followed for the tabulation of their result.

In case, any student is not satisfied with their marks awarded, they can make the representation to the principal of the school for verification and further process will be carried out for dispute redressal.

TYPE- 3 Disputes

Disputes regarding wrong computation/ Uploading of results

This type of dispute is for such cases where the result committee realizes a mistake itself without any objection being raised by the student. If the result committee finds any mistake committed by itself in the calculation, feeding of marks, or any other factual error, then the school is responsible to take corrective actions under the Type-3 disputes.

TYPE- 4 Disputes

Disputes regarding the policy

Any objections being raised against the evaluation policy of CBSE will be addressed under this category. however, It must be noted that this evaluation policy has been approved by the Supreme Court and thus the redressal process of any such dispute will take place at the central level under the controller of examinations, CBSE, New Delhi.
