Women make Science and Technology more Humane: President Ram Nath Kovind

President Ram Nath Kovind during a conference at the Rashtrapati Bhawana said that “Science and Technology become more humane when there are more women practitioners.” He congratulated the institutions for improving the gender ratio but stressed that there are still institutions with low female faculty.

President Kovind hosted a conference for the IITs, NITs, and IIEST, Shibhapur at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Tuesday. Human Resource Management Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ was also present along with State HRD Minister Sanjay Dhotre, Higher Education Secretary Mr.R Subrahmanyam, secretary of science and department Prof. Ashutosh Sharma and AICTE Chairman Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe.

During the conference, the President congratulated the Institutes for their increased ranking internationally and said other institutions should learn from their experience and measures they took to get their institutions to the international level.

He said, “These ranking may seem to be mere numbers, but they are important as they indicate your progress on various critical parameters.”

He expressed his concern towards the bad air quality in the country’s capital and other states and asked the institutes to come up with some solutions to handle it.

The President also said after an increase in The Rank of India on the Ease of Doing Business Index, we should work towards improving the Ease of Living for all Citizens of India. He asked the institutes to present ideas about enhancing the standard of living, making water supply effective and making healthcare facilities more efficient through technology and innovation.
