Today, we will be going to be covering the list of ten best Bollywood films made from South Indian films.

Here is the list of those ten films:-

1.Kick: Directed and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala in his directorial debut, this 2014 action flick features Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. It is a remake of the 2009 Telugu film of the same name by Surender Reddy and starring Ravi Teja and Ileana D’Cruz in the lead. Upon release, the film met with mixed critical reception but proved to be a massive box-office success, grossing over 400 crores.

2. Singham: Directed by Rohit Shetty, this 2011 action film stars Ajay Devgn, Kajal Aggarwal, and Prakash Raj in the lead. It marked a return of Devgn in the action genre after several years. It is a remake of of the 2010 Tamil action film titled ‘Singam’, featuring Surya and Anushka Shetty. ‘Singham’ was a box-office success and spawned a sequel titled ‘Singham 2’ which released in 2014. It was also the first film in Shetty’s Police Cinematic Universe that includes ‘Simmba’ and the upcoming ‘Sooryavanshi.’

3. Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein: Written and directed by Gautham Menon, this 2001 romantic drama film features R.Madhavan, Divya Mirza, and Saif Ali Khan in the lead. It is a remake of Menon’s own 2001 Tamil language film ‘Minnale’ that also featured R. Madhavan. The original was a critical and commercial success. ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ met with mixed response and performed moderately well at the box-office. Over the years, it has gained cult following.

4. Ghajini Released in 2008, this action drama film is written and directed by A.R Murugadoss and stars Aamir Khan and Asin in the lead roles. It is a remake of Murugadoss’s own 2005 Tamil film of the same name starring Asin and Surya, which itself was inspired by Christopher Nolan’s 2000 psychological thriller film ‘Memento.’ The film was lauded by critics and became a blockbuster at the box-office, becoming the first Hindi film to gross over 100 crores.

5.Bhool BhulaiyaaThis 2007 horror comedy film is directed Priyadarshan and stars Akshay Kumar, Ameesha Patel, Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja. It is an official remake of the 1993 Malayalam film called ‘Manichtrathazhu’ directed by Fazil. It was earlier remade in several other regional languages. The film was a critical and commercial success, with particular praise for Balan’s performance. A sequel titled ‘Bhool Bhulaiya 2’ in currently in development.

6. NayakOne of the most popular political films to come out of India, this 2001 S. Shankar-directed stars Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Amrish Puri, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, and Saurabh Shukla. It is a remake of Shankar’s own 1999 Tamil language film titled ‘Madhalvan’ which features Arjun and Manisha Koirala in the lead roles. The film was a critical and commercial success and enjoys a strong cult following.

7. SaathiyaThis 2002 romantic drama film is directed by Shaad Ali and stars Rani Mukerji and Vivek Oberoi in the lead. It is an official remake of the 2000 Mani Ratnam-directed film ‘Alaipayuthey’. The film was a critical and commercial success and won six Filmfare Awards. It’s soundtrack, composed by A.R. Rehman, also became popular.

8. Drishyam One of most recent entry in this list, this 2015 Nishikant Kamat-directed thriller film stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta and Rajat Kapoor. It is a remake of the 2013 Malayalam film of the same name starring Mohanlal. It has already been adapted in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. The Hindi version met with mostly positive reviews and grossed a worldwide total of INR 111 crore.

9. Tere Naam: Directed by Satish Kaushik, this 2003 romantic drama film has Salman Khan and Bhumika Chawla in the lead roles. is the remake of the 1999 Tamil language National Award winning film ‘Sethu’ directed by Bala. The film and its soundtrack met with favourable critical response and proved to be a moderate success at the box-office. It also won several accolades including the Zee Cine Award Best Female Debut (for Chawla) and Star Screen Award Best Music Director (for Himesh Reshammiya).

10. Hera Pheri: Directed by Priyadarshan, this 2000 flick is one of the most popular comedy films to come out of Bollywood. Starring Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, ‘Hera Pheri’ is a remake of the 1999 Malayalam film titled ‘Ramji Rao Speaking’. The film proved to be a critical and commercial success and has achieved a strong cult following over the years. A sequel titled ‘Phir Hera Pheri’, directed by Neeraj Vora, was released in 2006 and was also successful.
