While 2017 was rather disappointing for cinegoers, 2018 seems to have a  plethora of promising options for the audiences to enjoy. The year has already started with a bang with the humongous success of Tiger Zinda Hai and Padmaavat. Here’s a list of 18 other movies scheduled to come out this year from which we have a lot of expectations:

1. PadMan

The R. Balki directorial is based on an excerpt from Twinkle Khanna’s book, The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad. It starrs Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in prominent roles. Based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham who started producing sanitary pads on his own in his village to keep women hygiene and health in check is a movie worth watching. After a delay due to a clash of dates with Padmaavat, the movie is set to release on 9 February.

2. Race 3

Race 3 team and particularly its director Remo D’Souza is keeping Salman fans updated with the movie. According to a recent post the movie has completed filming its first schedule, along with some action sequences and a song. The third installment of the Race franchise is adorned with an ensemble cast including Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Saqib Saleem, Jacqueline Fernandez and Daisy Shah. It is scheduled for a May 4 release.

3. Pari

Anushka Sharma’s supernatural horror flick is all set to scare the audiences. The movie produced under Anushka’s own production house, Clean Slate Films also has Parambrata Chatterjee and Rajat Kapoor in pivotal roles. The film will release on March 2.

4. Parmanu: the story of Pokhran

After several delays due to release date issues involving clash with Anushka Sharma’s Pari, John Abraham and Diana Penty starrer Parmanu hasn’t declared an official release date but will hit the theatres soon.

5. Chanda Mama Door Ke

For all the science- fiction movie lovers, Bollywood is coming up with its first ever space movie. Sushant Singh Rajput is playing the lead role while R. Madhavan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui will also essay important roles in the movie. Although the initial release date announced for its release was 26 January, the movie will soon be screened in 2018 itself.

 

6. Raazi

There’s a good news for all Alia Bhatt fans. For all of those who have missed watching her fabulous movies, she is soon coming up with Raazi. The Meghna Gulzar directorial will starr Masaan fame Vicky Kaushal opposite Alia. Alia recently shared pictures from the set suggesting a wrap. The film is set to release on May 11.

7. Junglee

Hollywood director Chuck Russell who is credited with directing movies like The Mask, A Nightmare On Elm Street, The Scorpion King and I Am Wrath is soon coming up with Junglee starring Vidyut Jammwal. The action- thriller will hit the theatres on Dussehra i.e. October 19.

8. Manikarnika: the Queen of Jhansi

Kangna Ranaut’s Manikarnika is one of the most awaited movies of this year. It is a story of Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi and will release on 27 April.

9. Dhadak

Marking the debut of two star kids, Dhadak is another one of the most anticipated movies. It will starr Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khatter and Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor. Produced by Karan Johar, the movie is a Hindi remake of blockbuster Marathi movie, Sairat. It is scheduled to release on 6 July.

10. Kedarnath

Another movie that marks a star-kid debut is Abhishek Kapoor directorial Kedarnath. Saif Ali Khan’s daughter from his first marriage, Sara Ali Khan will make her entry into Bollywood with this movie.  Sara will be romancing Sushant Singh Rajput in the film, who is playing the character of a ‘pitthu’ or the luggage carrier. This movie is set to dazzle the audiences on 21 December, clashing with Shahrukh Khan’s Zero.

11. Gold

This sports biographical movie based on the life of Balbir Singh Sr. who was in the Indian team of 1948 hockey olympics is yet another promising movie by Akshay Kumar after PadMan. the movie also marks the Bollywood debut of TV actress Mouni Roy and is set to release on Independence Day.

12. Dil Juunglee

This movie adorned with a fresh and youthful pairing of Taapsee Pannu and Saqib Saleem is a romance that is making a lot of news with its lively trailer. The release of the movie is just round the corner i.e. on 16 February.

13. Simmba

After garnering a lot of appreciation through his captivating performance in Padmaavat, Ranveer Singh is coming up with another power pact performance in Rohit Shetty’s Simmba. He is essaying the role of a jovial police man called Sangram Bhalerao. The movie will release on 28 December this year.

14. Veerey Di Wedding

A lot of news regarding this movie has already been making the rounds. Veerey Di Wedding  marks the comeback of Kareena Kapoor after giving birth to little Taimur. The movie will also starr Sonam Kapoor and Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania. The release date is set for June 1.

15. Fanney Khan

This directorial debut of Atul Manjrekar is coming with the most beautiful collaboration of actors. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will play the role of a glamorous singer, Rajkumar Rao will be her love interest and Anil Kapoor will essay the role of an aspiring singer. Reminds us of Taal, only in a different order. The movie will come out on 13 April.

 

16. October

This Shoojit Sircar movie starrs Varun Dhawan and debutant Banita Sandhu in lead roles. The movie is a romance that will release on 13 April.

 

17. Sanjay Dutt Biopic

The Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanjay Dutt Biopic marks a complete transformation of the actor. Several pictures making the round have already piqued audience’s interest. The movie is a narrative of Sanju Baba’s life encompassing his journey throughout the massive ups and downs that he has witnessed. The movie will be at your nearest cinema halls on 29 June.

18. Zero

Shahrukh Khan fans are going to be delighted to see him in a completely different avatar in Aanand L Rai’s Zero. The actor is essaying the role of a dwarf in this slice of life movie that has already acquired a lot of buzz around the country. The movie also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. The Jab Tak Hai Jaan trio is coming to theatres on 21 December.

So with so many interesting options, we hope your cinegoing experience this year is a good one.
