chatrapathi-film-remake

A hit Telugu film of one of the best directors to ever come out of Telugu cinema is on cards. The film is the 2005 feature, Chatrapathi, which SS Rajamouli helmed and starred Prabhas in the lead. For the Hindi remake, the makers have found their lead in Telugu actor, Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas.

For Sreenivas the remake is going to be his debut in Bollywood. He made his debut in Telugu cinema with the 2014 film, Alludu Sreenu winning the best male debut award at the 62nd Filmfare Awards South.

Breaking out the news first was Bollywood’s evergreen trade analyst, Taran Adarsh. He posted a series of Tweets revealing the news.

While the original film’s director SS Rajamouli is working on the script of the remake, he won’t be directing the film. Instead VV Vinayak is helming the remake. Dr. Jayantilal Gada is producing the film under his banner, PEN Studios.

Prabhas in Chatrapathi

In Chatrapathi, Prabhas played a man who is fighting for the rights of refugees from Sri Lanka. Not only does he fight for their rights but he also frees his family from the thraldom of evil dictators.

The film marked Prabhas and Rajamouli’s first collaboration and also starred Shriya Saran, Venu Madhav, Pradeep Rawat, and Bhanu Priya in important roles.

In early 2021, the shooting of the remake will start which rumours state might star Sara Ali Khan or Ananya Panday. Though all these are just rumours for now.

On casting Sreenivas in the lead role, producer Jayantilal described the story as great, which warranted a south actor. He further described him as perfect for the role.

Since it is coming into Bollywood, the film is being made keeping the Hindi audience in mind as per the film’s producer.
