Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan is one of the finest actors in Bollywood who does one film a year but that one film keeps the audience as well as critics excited and eager. He is one of those few whose films are not only appreciated by the critics for their content but also ensure the box office success.

While his last film Thugs of Hindostan failed poorly to earn critical appreciation as well as the numbers at the box office, the actor has kept his fans excited since the time he announced his film Laal Singh Chaddha – the Hindi adaptation of Hollywood classic Forrest Gump.

Adding to that excitement, a piece of new information has been revealed. The film will apparently dive into sensitive topics of Indian history. According to report on Bollywood Hungama, the will include the controversial 1984 Operation Blue Star as well as the demolition of Babri Masjid.

The report quoted a source, “The whole point of doing Forrest Gump in Hindi is to transpose the original into Indian soil. Brutal aspects of Indian history cannot be swept under the carpet. They would have to be carefully probed.”

Keenly particular about getting the facts right, Aamir and the film’s producers Viacom 18 will invite eminent historians as consultants on the screenplay. “We want to get this completely right,” the source added.

The 1994 film that starred Tom Hanks looks at the American history from the protagonist’s perspective who is a slow-witted but kind-hearted man and also touches upon controversial subjects like Vietnam War. In the Hindi remake, Aamir Khan’s Sardarji character will look at the Indian history from the time of the Partition.

The film is being made by Viacom and Aamir Khan Productions together and will be directed by Advait Chandan who also made Secret Superstar. The film will also star Aamir Khan’s co-star from 3 Idiots and Talaash Kareena Kapoor.
