What are the elements you need to fit in a gripping thriller which is associated with the genre of crime drama? The typical answers will be great action sequences, engaging plots, etc. Partially these elements are essential, but the most important thing that builds up thrillers is the well-defined characters that do justice to the story. And Zee5’s web series Abhay has been proving it right from the first season to the recently released second season. In season one, the Special Tasks Force officer Abhay Pratap Singh (Kunal Khemu) deals with the theme of Insanity while solving crime cases. For those who haven’t been much familiar with such English dramas, will find Abhay new and gripping. 

Though the first season tried to convey a lot of things, it eventually reached but should be appreciated for the attempt is made. But the second season is quite an on-point, consisting of three episodes the show keeps you hooked till the end and is high on content. The second season of this crime thriller series raises the bars high in terms of story and the suspense built. Kunal Khemus came out as a surprise when the first season was released and he is back with a bang in the second season too as he deals with psychos and killers.

Abhay pushes the limits of power making it look more enthusiastic and promising. As of now, three episodes have been released which will be followed by the upcoming five. And all the characters are again well defined which is the main pro of this web series. Hence, there is no dull moment or disengaging scene in Abhay 2. Every episode kick starts with an unexpected crime being committed and how the law deals with it and concludes with a surprising twist every time which makes it a perfect watch.

The drama is dark and disturbing as it draws inspiration from many real stories, not only does the show marks as one of the best crime thriller series on Zee5 but it can be added to the list of the best crime shows in India. The major aspects of the second season include the story arcs revolving around the conflicted characters of Abhay.

Directed by Ken Ghosh, the series also marks some great performances by Ram Kapoor, Chunky Panday, and Bidita Bag. DOP Hari K. Vedantam adds up the meaning to Ghosh’s direction with a subtle dark tone. And all these combined elements make Abhay binge-worthy.
