The much-awaited Sidharth Malhotra-Manoj Bajypayee starrer Aiyaary has been scheduled to hit the silver screens on February 16th.
Aiyaary revolves around the story of an army colonel played by Manoj Bajpayee hunting for one of his ex-army major who went rogue; led by Sidharth Malhotra. Since Aiyaary has the army as their basic theme, rumours are that the Defense Ministry wants to review the film. Any particular reason hasn’t been released as to why the movie has been postponed from their initial date of release as February 9.
Producer Jayantilal said that there would be a few cuts after the censor board reviewed it. ”We have not received a letter from the censor board regarding the cuts. In such a short span of time, it was not possible for us to do the cuts and release the film in the overseas market on February 9. So we have now decided to come on February 16”, Gada told PTI.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the news saying, “It’s CONFIRMED… #Aiyaary shifted to 16 Feb 2018.” The news came just days after Sidharth Malhotra expressed his faith in the producers towards getting a certificate from the Censor Board. He was quoted saying, “As far as I know, my producers are handling it and it is in the process. They have assured me the film is releasing on time. It is a production aspect and I have complete faith in my team.”
The Neeraj Pandey directorial was originally set to release on January 26 but was pushed further after makers of Padmaavat opted to release their film on January 25. The much-awaited flick was then scheduled to hit the silver screens on February 9 and was supposed to go neck to neck with Akshay Kumar starrer PadMan.
