We reported in October that actor producer Ajay Devgn was planning a franchise to bring the stories of unsung warriors from Indian history on the big screen. Now, we have learnt that he has found the subject of his next film in the franchise. According to an interview given by Devgn to Mumbai Mirror, the next film in the franchise will be based on the life of 11th century King Suheldev.

“We have shortlisted quite a few subjects. But the next one will be based on King Suheldev, who defeated Mahmud of Ghazni’s army in Bahraich (in Uttar Pradesh today) in the 11th century AD. Ghazni had got the Somnath Temple razed and after defeating his army, Suheldev rebuilt it,” he told the news daily.

Devgn further revealed that the film will be based on Amish Tripathi’s book, which he is currently working on. The two have met and discussed the film adaptation.

Currently, Ajay Devgn is gearing up for his upcoming film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior which is coming out on 10 January next year. The film marks his reunion with his wife Kajol on the big screen after 11 years and with his co-actor Saif Ali Khan after around 13 years.

He will also be seen in war action film Bhuj: The Pride Of India releasing on 14 August 2020. He is filming for  Amit Ravindrenath Sharma’s Maidaan, a sport biographical drama based on the life of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim.
