Indian actor Akshay Kumar, who has been vocal about the discussions on menstrual hygiene to the core with his film ‘PadMan‘ has now joined hands with Run4Niine for a national running event for National hygiene awareness.

The actor who started the open conversation on menstrual sanitation during the promotion of his film ‘PadMan’ said, ”Its already been more than a year since the release of ‘PadMan’, and I am proud to see how it had evolved into a phenomenal grassroots level movement”.

Akshay also added that he is excited to be a part of the Niine movement to encourage an open and unashamed on menstruation on with his ”fellow citizens and pad heroes, change makers and path breakers”.

The event will take place across 20+ states and in multiple cities of India on March 8 in honor of International Women’s Day with Akshay Kumar Flagging it off in Lucknow. The motive of the campaign is to build a bridge between sanitary napkin users from 18 percents to 82 percent bringing together both genders, across all ages, backgrounds and all abilities.

With the event, the organizers hope to set a Guinness World Record for organizing the ”Largest Number of Runs in a Single Day for Menstrual Hygiene Awareness”.
