Akshay Kumar to reunite with Katrina Kaif after 9 years in the Rohit Shetty‘s upcoming film ‘Sooryavanshi’. According to Entertainment Times, it has officially been confirmed that Katrina Kaif will be seen playing the role of lead actress opposite Akshay Kumar in the film. Earlier, there were reports that Jacqueline Fernandez has been roped in to play the female lead, who was last seen in Salman Khan starrer ‘Race 3’.
As per the reports, it was Akshay Kumar who convinced Rohit Shetty to consider Katrina for the lead actress. While Rohit had some other name in his mind for the leading actress role in ‘Sooryavanshi’. Akshay Kumar was looking forward to working with Katrina Kaif and hence convinced the ace director Rohit Shetty to cast her for the lead role.
The film is the fourth installment of Rohit Shetty’s cop drama franchise and is slated to release on Eid this year. The franchise started with Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Singham’ series, followed by Ranveer Singh’s ‘Simmba’, which was the last blockbuster of 2018.
Akshay and Katrina once were considered Bollywood’s hit Jodi as the duo had delivered several hits together in the past. The hit duo last shared the screen for 2010 film ‘Tees Maar Khan’ which didn’t fare well at the box office. However, the wait for the hit Jodi’s fans is over with their upcoming film ‘Sooryavanshi’.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Katrina is busy shooting ‘Bharat’ alongside Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar is working on projects like ‘Housefull 4’, ‘Good News’, ‘Mission Mangal’ and ‘Sooryavanshi’.
