After completing the shooting of his upcoming film ‘Good News‘ Akshay Kumar is all set to return to the horror-comedy genre with the Hindi remake of Tamil film ‘Kanchana’. The film titled ‘Laxmi’ features Kiara Advani in the female lead.
“He will start shooting for it next week at a studio in Mumbai. It would be a brief stint during which the team will film a song titled “Bismillah” which will have the ambiance of a typical horror film. This will be followed by another four-five day of work on some scenes before it’s a wrap for the first schedule,” informed a source.
The source had earlier stated that the film is not the straight remake of but will draw references from two films, ‘Muni’ and ‘Kanchana’. “Farhad Samji is on board as one of the writers of Laxmi and the team has been working on the script for over six months trying to work new dimensions into the original story,” added the source.
The film will tell the story of a man, played by Akshay, who is so afraid of ghosts that he refuses to step out of his house after sundown. The story takes an interesting twist when he encounters a transgender ghost.
“He has allotted bulk dates to Rohit and will start filming towards the end of May. It will be wrapped up in one start-to-finish schedule in and around Goa,” the source disclosed.
