A lot of heroes rejected 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha': Akshay Kumar!

Akshay Kumar‘s upcoming movie titled “Toilet Ek Prem Katha“, which was directed by Shree Narayan Singh co-produced by Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey, the film will star Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles, with Anupam Kher, and Sana Khan in supporting roles.

Akshay Kumar said before coming to him, “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” was offered to many other heroes, He said, “The writers brought the subject to me. Interestingly, this script was doing the rounds in the industry for over four years. It went to a lot of heroes, a lot of people but nobody picked it up.” He added, “I liked it and I asked Neeraj Pandey with folded hands to give it to me. Earlier, the film was named ‘Sandaas: Ek Prem Katha’ but later the title was changed.”

The movie which is based on the true incidents and on the importance of toilets in rural areas. Akshay said, “This film is primarily a love story. The toilet construction just forms the backdrop. The film is about Keshav and Jaya. It is based on a true story.”

The movie was even praised by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and called the movie a commendable effort to promote cleanliness. Talking more about the movie, Akshay Kumar will be seen playing the role of Keshav and the only thing he dreams of is getting married until he meets Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar) and falls in love. While Keshav is a simple person, Jaya is a broad-minded and a progressive thinker. All’s well in their lives, till Jaya, after marriage, is introduced to the lota gang by the women of her house.  However, she fights back along with Keshav. Going against all odds, Keshav and Jaya attempt to bring a change in their family’s thought and take on a political battle over open defecation and sanitation.

‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ is a unique love story and will hit the silver screen on  11 August 2017.
