Although there is official announcement yet but the buzz is very strong around Akshay Kumar and Nikhil Advani’s collaboration for a new project. The two are coming together three years after their last collaboration Airlift. The duo has also worked on other films like Chandni Chowk To China and Patiala House.
While it was reported that the upcoming film will be a high action spy thriller set in the ’80s and will be directed by Lucknow Central director Ranjit Tiwari, now a crucial piece of information has been revealed about the film. Bollywood Hungama has reported that the film in question is a remake of a very successful and entertaining South film called Bell Bottom.
The entertainment website quoted a source as saying, “The Akshay Kumar starrer is an official adaption of a Kannada film, titled Bell Bottom. It released earlier this year and was directed by Jayathirtha with Rishab Shetty and Haripriya playing the lead roles. It was one of the biggest Kannada hits of 2019 and was loved for its entertainment quotient and for bringing the 80s era alive beautifully on screen. Nikkhil Advani saw the film and instantly decided to buy its remake rights as he saw immense potential in the film. He also decided to let Ranjit Tiwari handle it. Though his first film Lucknow Central failed, Nikkhil trusts his capabilities. And then Akshay came on board too. The scripting of the film is underway and is expected to be completed before the end of 2019.”
The remake will also be titled as Bell Bottom and will be reportedly produced by Vashu Bhagnani and Nikkhil Advani while Bhushan Kumar of T-Series is expected to come on board as producer. “Along with Akshay Kumar, Nikkhil Advani and Vashu Bhagnani, even Bhushan Kumar of T-Series is expected to come on board as producers. They are planning to name the remake as Bell Bottom as well but will take a final call in a while since they have few more titles in mind too,” the source added.
With this spy-thriller added in the list, it seems Akshay Kumar has wide variety of films for his fans ahead. He has a comedy coming up called Good Newwz, an action-packed adventure, Sooryavanshi, a horror-comedy called Laxmmi Bomb and another historical drama, Prithviraj. And lastly, he also has another comedy-cum-action drama, Bachchan Pandey. It remains to be seen which project is liked by his fans the most.
