After giving three back to back hits in the form of Kesari, Mission Mangal, and House full 4, Akshay Kumar is now all set to team up with Nikkhil Advani for a new project. The two are coming together three years after their last collaboration Airlift. The duo has also worked on other films like Chandni Chowk To China and Patiala House.
Pinkvilla has reported that they are collaborating for period drama film set in the ’80s. “Nikkhil has been planning this film for some time. It’s a suave action spy thriller where Akshay plays one of the special agents. The film is completely set in the 80s and will be a period action espionage film,” a source revealed about the film.
A very interesting thing about the film is its unique and amusing title which is a reflection of the era the film is set in. It’s called Bell Bottoms, mainly because of the era in which the film is set and because Kumar’s character is going to wear them in most of his screen time.
The film was previously offered to Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapoor but both of them passed it on. Now that the project came to Akshay, he has charged a whopping amount of money to do it. He reportedly took around Rs 100 crore for signing the project.
Directed by Lucknow Central director Ranjit Tiwari, the film will be produced by Vashu Bhagnani who is also producing the remake of Coolie No.1. A source said, “Vashu Bhagnani brings with him the experience, knowledge and expertise of a producer who has been in the film industry for over 24 years. He is also producing the remake of Coolie No.1 which is carrying a good buzz in film trade.”
The coming together of three biggies Nikkhil, Akshay and Vashu in one film would surely be interesting to watch. While Akshay Kumar has given three back to back hits this year, Nikkhil is also on a career high with his movies like Satyameva Jayate and Batla House doing excellent business at the box-office. His upcoming film Marjaavaan (starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria and directed by Milap Zaveri) has also created a lot of buzz with its massy action and dialogues. Nikkhil is also doing a movie with Arjun Kapoor and Rakulpreet Singh. He is also helming a web series called Bombay Dairies.
It seems Akshay Kumar has wide variety of films for his fans ahead. He has a comedy coming up called Good Newwz, an action-packed adventure, Sooryavanshi, a horror-comedy called Laxmmi Bomb and another historical drama, Prithviraj. And lastly, he also has another comedy-cum-action drama, Bachchan Pandey. It remains to be seen which project is liked by his fans the most.
