Kesari is a film based on the Battle of Saragarhi, 1897 between Sikh soldiers and British Indian Army and Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen. The film is directed by Anurag Singh. Akshay Kumar and his co-star Parineeti Chopra, playing the lead roles were at the shoot of the film with children dressed up in the Afghani attire. After Padman, Akshay Kumar is very delighted to work in Kesari, playing the role of a Panjabi.

He tweeted a lovely picture of him wearing golden yellow traditional turban, beard and surrounded by kids smiling with excitement and joy, said “Innocent smiles galore on set today. Shooting with these lovely children playing Afghani kids in #Kesari based on the Battle Of Saragarhi, one of the bravest battles fought in India.”, which spread a lot of talk over social media.

Akshay had earlier said, “I’ve started shooting for my film Kesari, where I’m in the heaviest turban and beard I’ve ever had to wear. So I shaved my head to make my life a little easier. I’m known for hating wigs, prosthetics and so on, and Kesari is quite demanding. It’s probably my favourite look, though it’s taxing to fight and sweat in this avatar. But I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

A very big film of Dharma Productions, Akshay Kumar is collaborating with Karan Johar. Parineeti Chopra is equally excited and said “I am very excited and very honoured that I am inn Kesari because it is one of the biggest films Dharma Productions is making. I really wanted to work with Akshay sir from a really long time. I think this is the perfect film because he is Punjabi and he feels for the subject that the movie is based on.”
Equally pleased, both the stars look forward to working on this beautiful upcoming film, which is going to be released during Holi 2019.
