‘Gold‘ is an upcoming Indian sports film which is directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner Excel Entertainment. The movie is about India’s first Olympic medal win as a free nation in the year 1948 in London. The movie is said to be based on the life of hockey player Balbir Singh as he was on the team that won the first Olympic medal for India as a free nation in 1948. The movie features Akshay Kumar in the lead.

The Arjuna Award winner and former Indian national team caption, Sandeep Singh has been appointed to improve Akshay Kumar’s hockey skills. The shooting of the movie has been done in Yorkshire and the Midlands, England.
About the movie director, Reema says that the movie is based on the fictional take on what happened. The movie ‘Gold’ focus not only on the golden victory in 1948 but will also be showing the 12 crucial years in India’s history.
The movie “Gold” is expected to hit the theatres on August 15 next year.
