Akshay Kumar has started shooting for his next movie “Gold“, which is about India’s first Olympic medal win as a free nation in the year 1948 in London. The film is being directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar.
The movie is based on the life of the hockey player Balbir Singh, who won the first Olympic medal for the country as a free nation in 1948.
Akshay revealed the first look from his upcoming movie “Gold” on his Instagram account saying,”Set out on a brand new journey, aiming for nothing less than #GOLD! Day 1 of Gold, need your love and best wishes as always :)”

TV actress Mouni Roy has been signed to play a key role in the film. Even though the film has a male dominated plot, her character will be crucial enough. On this Akshay said,”Mouni will be seen in a completely different avatar to suit the era. She will film for 20-25 days in August and is one of the few female characters in the otherwise male-dominated narrative.”
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is currently busy promoting his movie “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha“, which is directed by Shree Narayan Singh and co-produced by Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey. The film will star Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles, with Anupam Kher, and Sana Khan in supporting roles.
