AKSHAYE KHANNA: EVERY ACTOR HAS A CERTAIN SHELF LIFE!

Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna says that every actor in the industry has a certain shelf life. Recently, he played the role of an oddball character in his recently released movie titled ‘Ittefaq‘, which was directed by Abhay Chopra and co-produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, Dharma Production, and B R Studios. The movie features Sonakshi Sinha, Sidharth Malhotra, and Akshaye Khanna in the lead.

Akshaye feels that it does not matter much if you are playing the role of a hero or you are in a supporting role because every actor’s shelf life is based on their destiny in the film down and that is written by the audience. Moreover, he feels that the actor’s stay in the movie can range from five years to a massive 50 years but that actually depends upon the audience whims and fancies. He says that he is working in the Bollywood industry for so many years and he has worked along with so many actors but some of the actors do not have work. He believes that for him he is working in the movies is more than enough he is not concerned much what kind of role he is playing on the screen. He feels that there are some of the actors whose self-life has been expired.

However, there are some of the actors who are still very much in demand even today like Lata Mangeshkar and Rishi Kapoor so he feels that the audience determines whether they still want to watch them or not. He believes that audience has a very important role to play in this. An actor has been appreciated many times before for his acting chops irrespective of whether the movie turns out to be a hit or not. Moreover, he says that he always try to perform to the best of his ability.

Akshaye says that if any creative person does a movie they usually think that it is going to be good quality or they should make a movie in such that way that most of the people should like the movie. So their intentions are always positive. He says that as a creative person the one can not embark on something thinking that it will be substandard. Once the movie has been made the creative process is finished and the movie has been shown to the audience now it is totally up to them whether they will like the movie or not and to judge the reaction of the audience is just not easy he feels that is the most difficult thing to do.

Moreover, Akshaye says that he wants to test the waters before experimenting with anything because he is now switching over to the character roles. Akshaye had taken a long break from his work so now he has decided in his mind that he will start again but he will start with the smaller roles initially. He will be playing the role in the first two or three movies. He does not want to rusty because he wants that his craft should be well presented in front of the audience. He does not like compromising with his roles whether it was a movie like ‘Dishoom’, ‘Mom’, or ‘Ittefaq’ the quality of his role was never compromised. There is a possibility that he will get a smaller role but he is okay with that. He believes that the role must be smaller but the impact of that role should be to the audience and it should be uncompromising.
