Fans have been eagerly waiting for a sequel to 2008 film ‘Dostana’. The pre-production of the film is underway and Alia Bhatt might play the female lead in the second part.

Karan Johar‘s 2008 rom-com starred John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, and Priyanka Chopra. The filmmaker has finally given green-signal to the second part and reports has further stated that KJo wanted to cast new male leads, like in the original and a top female lead to complete the love triangle.

According to the reports, Alia Bhatt is in talks to play the female lead in the much-awaited sequel. The actress will also star in Karan’s latest projects like ‘Kalank’, ‘Brahmastra’ and ‘Takht’, which he is directing.

”The conversation has begun, and Alia has liked the idea. She will hear the final script and close the formalities soon. Casting for her two male co-stars is presently underway after which Karan will make the final announcement. Pre-production on the film has also begun,” informs a source close to the development.

‘Dostana’ was directed by Tarun Mansukhani, which revolved around two men who pretend to be gay in order to share an apartment with a girl and ultimately fall in love with her.

Alia has been offered a Telugu film ‘RRR’ by Bahubali director SS Rajamouli, featuring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan. The actress is keen to be a part of the film and is trying to figure out her dates. ”Alia will be tied up with promotions of her upcoming films and the shoot of ‘Brahmastra’ in the next few months. At the moment, she is trying to figure out dates for the Rajamouli film after wrapping up ongoing commitments,” adds the source.

Her upcoming projects include ‘Sadak 2’, which will mark as the directorial comeback of her father Mahesh Bhatt. The film also features Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapur in pivotal roles.
