Small screen actor Amar Upadhyay says that he will never leave television for Bollywood because he has learned a lesson from his past mistakes. Amar is very well known for his television shows like ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, where he played the role of Mihir Virani and he is still being remembered as a Mihir from the Ekta Kapoor show.
Later, Amar moved towards the darker roles on the television. Currently, he is playing the role of Vikram Singh Chauhan’s father on the new show television show with a title ‘Ek Deewana Tha’. When asked from the actor that if he is having any qualms about playing the father of an actor who is that much old enough to become his younger brother.
About this, Amar says that he has been in the film industry for a too long now and he does not feel to reject the role just for this reason. He is playing the negative character and his role is as important as other roles are. However, he agrees that he might not be looking convincing as a father, but he says that all the other actors have already been cast when the makers of the show have approached him for the show. However, he says that he likes to play negative characters. When asked from the actor that what made him choose the negative roles. Amar says that playing a negative role will give you more recognition in the show and you become the face of the show and he says that what more you can really ask for.
Moreover, he says that his children, Chenab and Aryaman does not really fond of his negative roles and they wonder that why is he playing such roles and they feel more proud of his role of Mihir Virani. They want him to play more of that characters.
He left television in 2003 when he was on the top of his career. When asked that does he regrets his decision which he took at that time? Amar says that his move was not good at that time, but he says at that time actors were not given choices to play a part in the movies as well as on the television so he left television just to be on the big screen. He did many movies but he feels that much of his movies did not promote well or there was something which was missing from the script of that movies or maybe he chose the wrong movies. Now he says that he has learned a lot from his past mistakes and he still get offers from the movies till now. Amar says now for the sake of the movie he will not gonna leave the television because the television has given him the new lease on life and he is enjoying his work here.
