The teaser of Rishi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan starrer 102 Not Out was released  by the makers this morning. It is adorned with the beautiful chemistry of father-son duo: Amitabh and Rishi, ready to bring a smile on our faces with their childlike innocence.

The teaser shows the thick bond of the two as they live gleefully despite their old age. Amitabh who is playing a 102 years old father to a 75 years old Rishi Kapoor is shown playing saxophone, kicking football and dancing in the rain with Rishi. The lively Amitabh is contrasted with a rather grim and tensed looking Rishi who seems a little less free spirited than his father. It will be interesting to see how the two characters unfold in the story. Here’s the teaser-

The movie is based on a popular Gujarati play sharing the same title, written by Saumya Joshi. According to reports the movie subverts the conventional idea of generation gap by showing a more fun-loving father than his son. In his dialogue Amitabh even says, “ek putra ko vriddhashram bhejne wala main duniya ka pehla baap banunga” (I will be the first father in the world to send his son to an old age home). The makers are calling the movie a unique father- son love story.

About the collaboration of the two veteran actors, Mr. Bachchan said, “Teaming up with Chintu Ji (Rishi Kapoor) after so many successful historic films, has been the greatest joy. A novel story, competent direction and the most qualified crew, has made the experience of 102 Not Out even greater.” He added, “I know the country loves the younger, fresh and vibrant new generation, as must it should deservedly, but whoever said the ‘oldies’ are not capable to do the similar, we know if given a chance we shall not disappoint you either, that is as immodest as I can get.”

Rishi Kapoor, too, is excited about the reunion. “Being in 102 Not Out brought back a lot of fond memories and fun I have shared with Amitji during my younger days. I am glad to reunite with him on such a special and unusual film. It will definitely delight our fans”, said the actor.

Umesh Shukla, the director of the movie, gave some insight into it. He said, “102 Not Out is a highly entertaining and extremely successful Gujarati play that has won over the youth and family audiences across the board. The idea of adapting it into a Hindi feature came from the fact that the relationship between a parent and a child is universal and the one where love supersedes everything else, including age. Amitabh Sir and Rishi Sir together are a dream cast for anyone and I sensed a deep responsibility in bringing them together.”

Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor have been a part of several successful ventures together like Amar Akbar Anthony and Kabhi Kabhi. We hope the same from this movie as well.

102 Not Out releases on 4 May, this year.
