Society does not like women who confront trementors!

Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan says that society does not like those women who confront tormentors. He believes that there are some mindsets still dominate most parts of India and there are societies which have not allowed women to freely use their rights of legal recourse in the case of harassment.

Amitabh feels that there are many crimes which are done against women and those go unreported because women are scared to file a complaint in the police station because they think that they might face further harassment over there. He feels that many of the fundamental rights of every citizen and women have mostly been denied because society does not like those women who confronts her tormentors. He has even penned down the foreword for the book ‘Pink: The Inside story’.

The book has been written by the writer Gautam Chintamani and that has also been used in the movie making ‘Pink’ and that movie has bagged the National Award for the best movie which focuses on the social issues for provoking discussions on crimes against women. His statement has been pertinent as far as the current scenario in the global entertainment industry is concerned.

He even pointed out that many of the women stood up and they have raised their voice against the Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein for sexual harassment and there were many women who even spoke about the filmmaker James Toback and even actors like Kevin Spacey and Dustin Hoffman.

Amitabh says that today’s women are very educated and they are financially more secure. However, they are more assertive and ambitious and yet there is no end to the atrocities perpetrated against women. He feels that to know about this you just have to pick up the newspaper every morning.

Amitabh himself chose him to feature in the 2016 movie ‘Pink’ and that movie highlighted that the work no means no. He feels that as an older member in the industry he felt like there is a need to change in his engagement with his profession. In the movie, Pink he essayed the role of a Deepak Sehgal, a lawyer and he fought in favour of the three girls and he made a valid arguments and he  even highlighted the issues related to the consent and a women right that if they do not like something then they have the power to say no.

In the book, he is sharing the relationship with the three girls and that actually reminds him of his own bond with his granddaughters and he says that it is very important for him that all of them should grow up in the society that will offer them the necessary protections and privileges.
