Technology can't stop conventional TV if content is strong: Amitabh!

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan is all set to bring back his reality TV game show “Kaun Banega Crorepati“. Yesterday, at the launch of the show “Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC)” season 9, Amitabh said that no technological advancement can hinder conventional TV if your content is strong.

The big production houses like Yash Raj, Excel Entertainment, Phantom films and Balaji films have also entered in the production of web series with a smart phone technology. On this Amitabh Bachchan said, “With each passing month new technology is developing in the world, but the content has always ruled. As long as you can create content which is watchable any amount of technological skill will not fall prey to it.”

Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 9 has been made more exciting this time because the makers have introduced a jackpot question for seven crores. About this Amitabh Bachchan said, “I feel like that gives us an opportunity to test the intelligence and knowledge of the person who is going to play for seven crores.” Moreover, he added, “It is a huge award, but with that jump, e are also challenging that person and his knowledge. If people are preparing to come to KBC then they are also preparing to face that question.”

This season of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ will give some new lifelines, thrilling gamification and an array of technological advancement. This time phone-a-friend lifeline will be revamped as video-a-friend and along with a new lifeline has been introduced called ‘Jodidaar’, where a participant can bring a partner along with them to join on the hot seat.

The registration for the ninth season started back in June. The upcoming season has already received 19.8 million registrations. The show was initially launched in 2000, changing the face of Indian television and giving Amitabh a new lease of life in showbiz. Amitabh said, “It’s been 17 years with a few gaps in between since its inception and start and it almost seems like it all began just yesterday… what a journey it has been.”
