Amyra Dastur is a well known actress who is also known to be a socially aware person. Amyra recently talked about current Aarey forest tree cutting crisis in an interview with Bollywood Hungama.
Amyra said regarding this, “I don’t know what the case is all about but I find it strange that why trees were cut in the night when people were sleeping and why it couldn’t be done in the day. I feel it’s gotten out of hand with people getting arrested and all and I think government and people should calm down and find a solution to it.”
Speaking on government’s proposal of planting more trees in place of these cut trees, Amyra said, “I don’t find it logical because it takes a couple of years for a tree to grow. I know this because my mother is into landscaping and she has her own nursery. I have heard that in coming years, temperature is going to rise and places like Rajasthan are going to be completely inhabitable.”
She further said that seeing phenomenon like Amazon destruction, we can’t afford to cut trees, not just in India but in entire world.
Speaking on the public view that film city should be shut down as it is also using forest land, Amyra said, “I think some people have very funny view about the Bollywood. I think people should known that actors are also people and they have an opinion.
