Angad Bedi to film his fathers’ biopic

One word has become quite popular in Bollywood now days, that is nepotism. A lot of debates have raged around the topic over the years, celebrities berated and big film producers ridiculed. One thing out of it has come out as a surety, there is no solution to this problem. Everyone has to fight for themselves, like actor, Angad Bedi is doing.

Angad’s upcoming film is Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, which stars Janhvi Kapoor in the lead. The trailer of the film released on Saturday, though it received a lot of criticism on social media. Why though ? As per reports the majority of the criticism, the film is facing is because of the ‘insider vs outsider’ debate.

The recent death of actor, Sushant Singh Rajput ignited this debate again and several big bollywood celebrities are being accused for favoritism, among them includes Karan Johar. Well, Karan is the producer of Gunjan Saxena and a surprising thing to note is that the trailer of the film didn’t showcase his name of Dharma Productions as its producer.

Feeling the brunt of all this, is Angad Bedi who stars as Janhvi’s elder brother in the film. Hailing the criticism the film is facing as ‘unfair’, he further talked to ‘Mid-day’ and said :

“It’s my film, too… Everyone has a right to their opinion, but people are spitting fire against one another. The flak (that the film is receiving) is unfair. Every industry is competitive.”

To stake his claim that he got the role because he ‘tested’ for it and because of his performance in ‘Soorma’, Bedi further added – “There are lakhs of people in the industry, so it’s only fair that we all get a chance.”

The struggles of being an actor is known to Bedi. He described his own struggles in Bollywood as a learning curve. He distinguished his own experiences from any one else and called it his own.

Well, as we said earlier the debate around nepotism is never ending, but actors like Angad Bedi should be given their credit, where its due.

Meanwhile, Gunjan Saxena : The Kargil Girl will release on Netflix, on August 12.
