The Central Bureau of Investigation’s anti-corruption branch got a complaint from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry against National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). After which the CBI has begun preliminary enquiry for financial irregularity.

The allelations on NFDC are related  to finance and violations of norms. The corporation has been charged for making excess and undue payment to filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and other film directors.

CBI’s anti-corruption branch send a letter to the director (finance) of NFDC, stating that preliminary test has been projected against unknown officials of the corporation, Sun TV, UFO Movies, Anurag Kashyap Films and other people.

An official of the probe agency said, ” The CBI had asked NFDC to furnish certain documents to help the probe”.

NFDC which was constituted under Information and Broadcasting Ministry in 1975, created a controversy when its Managing Director, Nina Lath Gupta, was dismissed for favoring Sun TV network in February. This happened when Smriti Irani was in charge of the Ministry.

Later she re-joined NFDC when Delhi High Court ordered so. However ministry terminated her again.

But when Smriti Irani was replaced as minister by Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, all charges against Nina Lath Gupta were dismissed.
