Bhaskar Hazarika’s Assamese film ‘Aamis’ has received heaps of praises in its festival circuit.

It is now scheduled for a theatrical release in India on 22 November, in a limited number of theaters and is presented by film maker Anurag Kashyap.

Several film makers have urged the audiences to watch the film like Sriram Raghavan and Vikramaditya Motwane.

The ‘Andhadhun’ director said, “It’s a weird, macabre tender kind of a love story. [sic] It’s like you known ‘Lunchbox’, made by someone like Edgar Allan Poe or Hitchcock.”

Vikramaditya praised the film by saying, “spectacular cinema from a very brave new voice.”

Anurag, who is presenting the release, said: “Watch the film. I can promise you one thing that you have never seen anything like ‘Aamis’ come out of India. Ever.”

Apart from its theatrical release, ‘Aamis’ is also releasing on the website MovieSaints, where one can also buy the ticket or request a show.

The film had its world premiere at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival to warm response and was nominated in five categories.

It stars Lima Das, Arghadeep Baruah and Neetali Das and follows the story of an unusual bond between a lonely married woman with a younger man.
