Anurag Kashyap was all set with his next film ‘Womaniya’ with Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar. After the case of sexual assault against the co-owner Vikas Bahl, Phantom Films announced its dissolution. Post Phantom Anurag found it difficult to go ahead with the film, due to increasing budget. Therefore, the film might be shelved.

‘Womaniya’ is a biopic on UP-based octogenarian sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar. Bhumi and Taapsee were to prep for a month, following the preparation the movie was to be shot Uttar Pradesh. The movie required antique weapons that were proving to be expensive. Even after Kashyap managed to find the support from producers Shibasish Sarkar and Nidhi Parmar. The makers were breaching the budget. Also, given the indefinite delay, the actors eventually moved on to other projects.

‘Womaniya’ was reportedly the debut of writer Tushar Hiranandani as a director on the silver screen and Anurag Kashyap was co-producing the film with Shibasish Sarkar and Nidhi Parmar. The film is a sports-drama written on the UP-based octogenarian sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar.

On the work front, Taapsee Pannu will next be seen in ‘Badla’ and ‘Mission Mangal’ and Bhumi Pednekar will appear in ‘Sonchiriya’ and ‘Takht’.
