In the glorious battle for becoming the best streaming platform, Apple is turning its beast mode on. The company on Tuesday announced a major addition to its list of renowned creators. They have signed a multi-year deal with Legendary Hollywood auteur, Martin Scorsese. As per the deal, he’ll produce films and Tv series for the company’s streaming platform, Apple Tv+.

Martin Scorsese is going to produce the projects through his company, Sikelia Productions. With this deal, he joins Oprah Winfrey, Alfonso Cuaron, Ridley Scott, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus and other people who have signed deals with Apple Tv+, for creating content for the service.

Earlier, the streaming giant had announced that it’ll produce Scorsese’s upcoming film ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’. It stars Leonardo Dicaprio and Robert De Niro. Though, the film will come on Apple TV+ only after Paramount Pictures distributes it in theatres. Paramount is a unit of ViacomCBS Inc.

If you remember, Scorsese is not new to the digital platform. Last year he made his debut on it, through his film ‘The Irishman’ which starred Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci. It had released on Netflix. The Irishman was a success with resounding reviews and got nominated for 10 Academy Awards.

The Hollywood legend has made iconic films such as Taxi Driver, GoodFellas, Casino, The Aviator, The Wolf Of Wall Street, and Raging Bull. He has won an Oscar for Best Director for The Departed (2006), while the film too won The Best Picture Oscar. With nine Oscar nominations, he is also the most nominated living director.

The battle for claiming the top spot as a streaming giant is truly on. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, and HBO Max among others are already in the fray. Can Apple TV+ topple them all? We don’t know the answer to this yet but the battle between these giants looks intriguing.
