The Aquaman spin-off is titled as ‘The Trench’, Warner Bros. is currently developing the horror movie. According to Hollywood Reporter, The spin-off titled ‘The Trench’ will be about the race of horrifying deepsea creatures that Jason Momoa‘s Arthur Curry and Amber Heard‘s Mera encountered during the quest to retrieve the Trident of Atlan.
The studio has currently hired Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald to write the script of the film, The dangerous amphibians who attacked Aquaman and Mera in the movie. The story will revolve around the undersea creatures of Marianas Trench, where the original inhabitant’s of the kingdom evolved into savage monsters.
The movie is produced by James Wan and Peter Safran, as the Aquaman film will be a lower-cost version of Aquaman without the main cast involved. The producer duo collaborated for films like ‘Aquaman’ and ‘The Conjuring’ where Wan directed and Safran produced the films.
Geoff John’s created ‘The Trench’ creatures and introduced ‘The Meg’ and ‘Pacific Rim’ as antagonists in the Aquaman storyline in DC comics in 2011.
Meanwhile, the ‘Aquaman’ is still earning after releasing in December 2018. ‘Aquaman’ has over-performed for Warner Bros. as it has collected $325 million in North America and $784 million internationally. It has become the highest-grossing DC film of all times and it is the only DCEU film apart from ‘Wonder Woman’ to get mostly positive reviews.
