daddy movie review is here

Arjun Rampal‘s Indian political crime drama movie ‘Daddy‘ has finally released today. The movie is co-written and directed by Ashim Ahluwalia. The movie features Arjun Rampal and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead role. In the movie, Arjun will be portraying the role of a gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli.

The movie ‘Daddy’ will tell us the story of the gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli. He is a son of the jobless mill worker, which set himself on the path of the gangsterdom and he has worshipped and feared by his constituency. He is one of the most dreaded dons in Mumbai. Arun’s story has a lot to intrigue and interest but Ashim Ahluwalia’s movie ‘Daddy’ is not about Arun Gawli, the movie’s hero Arjun Rampal will be seen playing a cold blooded killer and his ruthlessness has been tempered by his love for his family and he has balanced his criminal activity by his loyalty towards his friends.

However, it’s a fact that the ‘Daddy’ claims to be based on the true story of Arun Gawli, but he has a lot to answer for. Arun is true to those who have faith in him and he loves his wife and he always stands by his friends. He has given a name ‘Daddy’ by those under his protection. The makers of the movie are showing us only the family man and it will give us only the glimpse of the murderer and smuggler that he is.

The storyline of the movie has not matched up with the title that the dark entertainer Daddy aspires to be with. Director Ashim Ahluwalia serves the usual formula for all his movie. The movie has an item number, several gun battles and then close ups of an emotional moment same like others.

Besides sloppy storyline and over dramatic dialogues, there is nothing fresh in the movie. However Arjun performance and the film surprise package Farhan Akhtar as Gawli’s bete noire.

Actor Arjun Rampal has adopted the look same as Arun Gawli. In the movie, Arjun’s body language is very impressive in parts. Arun is supposed to be a good hearted man but he has come to the bad company and he does not want to murder anybody but always ends up counting his own friend among his first kills.

In the movie, ‘Daddy’ Farhan will play the role of Maqsood and he literally owns the city of Mumbai. Farhan is there almost through the entire film, but you will get the feeling of blink-and-you-miss-it after his first appearance. Ashim has done a great job that despite playing the bigger don, Farhan Akhtar does not seem to overshadowed Arjun Rampal because e wanted that Arun’s story show be highlighted.

The movie ‘Daddy’ did not glorify the subject just like any other gangster film, but it does worse. The makers of the Daddy tries to justify Arun Gawli’s actions with the old filmy dialogues like ‘gareebi uska sabsa bada mistake tha’ even the character at one point tells an investigating officer that “Agar aap ek chawl me paida hota aur wo (Gawli) ek police officer ke ghar to aap gunda hota aur wo police officer.”

The makers of the movie have given the retro look and even the treatment of the movie belongs to 80’s when makers tried to justify the Arun’s crime by pointing on his sufferings. It is the duty of the state machinery that they must take care of the citizens and ensure that all the basic amenities, but the system’s fault can not be used to justify a criminal’s action.

Th music in the movie is given by the Sajid-Wajid. In the movie you will also see bullet flying, blood bath and killing can rattle you while watching ‘Daddy’. Arun Gawli was sent to imprisonment by the court in August 2012, however, he continues his fight and he claims for his innocence.
