Ashutosh Gowariker is coming up with a new project along with his highly anticipated directorial ‘Panipat’. His next venture will narrate the success story of Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad. It will be directed by his assistant directors, Ankush and Glen.

President of the Indian women’s cooperative Swati R Paradkar confirmed the news,  “We are honoured that Ashutosh Gowariker is making a film on Lijjat. The journey is not only fascinating but also inspiring for people.”

The organization was founded in 1959 by seven women in Girgaum with a total investment of ₹80. As by 2018 it reportedly had a yearly turnover of more than ₹800 crore and provides employment to 43,000 women. It has its headquarter in Mumbai and has 81 branches and 27 divisions across the nation.

In 1966, the organization was enrolled under the Bombay Public Trusts Act 1950 and Societies Registration Act, 1860. Khadi & Village Industries Commission also recognized the company as a village industry. The organization works towards creating self-employment opportunity for women.

A spokesperson informed, “Papad production work begins at. 4.30 am every day. We have minibusses that pick up members from the point closest to their residence and drives them to work and back Every branch is headed by a Sanchalika to oversee the production. We also have a Central Managing Committee, with 21 members, of which six are elected office bearers, including the president, vice president, two secretaries, and two treasurers.”
